About Hamburg Counselling

Hamburg Counselling is the natural continuation of my 10 years of practice, now based in Hamburg, Germany.

It is primarily offered as a counselling service for individualised, one-on-one sessions. On occasion I lead workshops for non-profit profit groups, NGOs, and educational facilities. I am also regularly involved in youth education, and lead educational retreats.

Hamburg

After working on three different continents, I saw how therapy clinics everywhere always got stuck down with messy and slow procedures; how patients were often left feeling like just another ‘problem’ for a clinician to get through.

I began offering private practice counselling so I could dedicate to a more respectful and human service (the core principles).

In 2019, already before the Corona pandemic, I extended my practice to online, to reach those finding it difficult to access services in their physical location or circumstances.

I have since helped hundreds of people from dozens of diverse cultures to overcome their clinical problems and internal challenges, helping them find the well-needed gifts of peace and mental strength.

Principles of Practice

My practice holds itself to three core principles:

ACCESSIBLE — streamlined intake, no hidden expenses, free of traditional stigma & bureaucracy
AGILE — non-dogmatic, responsive to needs, merging newest science with old wisdom
HUMAN — recognising uniqueness, inter-connectedness, and the power of empathetic warmth

About Anton

I am a native English speaker, having grown up mostly in Australia.

My first career was as a programmer. I once had a problem with excessive gaming and still enjoy it a little too much for my own good.

Following my Honours year, travel turned out to be an excellent complement to academic training. Immersive travel and volunteer work let me witness diversity in lifestyle and social values, shaking loose any judgemental assumptions I may have harboured, and deepened my curiosity for historical and non-western psychology.

Though I love being the student, I find myself very often being the teacher — leading youth camps, school workshops, as keynote speaker to allied health events, and offering continuing-education workshops to peers.

I’m ok with the grey weather of Hamburg. But urban density is tough. I get out bush, or up a mountain, when I can.
